C.W. Post Knocks Off Southern Connecticut, 2-1

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 17, 2008)- The C.W. Post women's soccer team remains undefeated, as it downed Southern Connecticut State University Wednesday afternoon, 2-1. C.W. Post improved its winning streak to 6-0 while Southern Connecticut fell to 3-2.
Southern Connecticut were the first to to get on the scoreboard. Junior Nicole Burton notched the only goal for the Owls off a penalty kick 10:56 into the first half.
C.W. Post rallied back 15 minutes later, as sophomore
Danielle DeLuca (Islip, N.Y.) tallied her first goal of the season off a pass from junior
Melissa Pascarella (Sayville, N.Y.). Pascarella found the net again, as she headed the ball into the net during a corner from freshman
Tove Eriksson (Helsingborg, Sweden). That was Pascarella's second goal of the season.
Freshman goalkeeper
Allie Weiser (Grand Island, N.Y.) scored the win for the Pioneers, making four saves in net. Weiser improved her record to 4-0 for the season. Southern Connecticut keeper Katie Didio made five saves for the Owls. Didio's record fell to 3-2 for the season.
The Pioneers outshot the Owls 17-11 for the afternoon and held a 4-2 margin in corner kicks.
The C.W. Post women's soccer team will take the field again Saturday afternoon to host Southern New Hampshire University at 1 p.m.
