Qaroline Nahl (Kumla, Sweden) each tallied a goal to help the C.W. Post Pioneers to a 2-1 victory over the Assumption Greyhounds Sunday afternoon.
The Pioneers improve to a 8-3-1 overall record, 2-0 in the ECC, while the Greyhounds fall to 5-6 overall, 5-4 in the NE-10.
Nahl put the Pioneers on the board first 18:45 into the first half off a pass from teammate
Lindsey Nick (Hauppauge, N.Y.). Nahl received the pass as she beat Assumption keeper Lauren Keating (Nashua, N.H.) down the middle, banking a shot into the lower left side to put C.W. Post up 1-0. Greyhounds forward Kirsten Chirichetti (Billerica, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal at the 42:08 mark as she converted a rebound off the crossbar into a five yard shot around Pioneers goalkeeper
Nicole Fierro (East Hampton, N.Y.) to tie the game 1-1 into halftime.
Pascarella notched her third goal of the season off a feed from junior forward
Ivana Babic (Haninge, Sweden) to give the Pioneers a 2-1 lead. The goal would prove to be the game winner for C.W. Post.
Fierro allowed one goal against in the first 45 minutes of play for C.W. Post. Sophomore keeper
Allie Weiser (Grand Island, N.Y.) finished out the game in net for the Pioneers, making one save in the second half. Keating made six saves while allowing two goals for the Greyhounds, while senior Katelyn Dolan (Ludlow, Mass.) faced no shots on goal during her 15 minutes in cage for Assumption.
C.W. Post outshot Assumption by a 10-3 margin. Both teams took three corner kicks a piece.
The Pioneers are back in action October 14 as they travel to rival Dowling College for an East Coast Conference matchup. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
