Babic's First Half Goal Leads Women's Soccer Past St. Thomas Aquinas, 1-0

Ivana Babic (Haninge, Sweden) knocked in the lone goal of the game in the first half to lead the C.W. Post Pioneers past the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans, 1-0, in an East Coast Conference matchup Monday afternoon.
The Pioneers improve to an overall record of 9-4-1, 3-1 in the ECC, while the Spartans fall 3-11 overall, 0-7 in conference play.
Babic put C.W. Post on the board in the 24th minute as she banked an unassisted goal past Spartans keeper Jeanette Gibson (Stony Point, N.Y.) to put the Pioneers up 1-0. Solid defense on both teams made for a scoreless second half, allowing C.W. Post to maintain its one goal lead for the win.

Nicole Fierro (East Hampton, N.Y.) blocked one shot in net, while Gibson registered 10 saves while allowing one goal against for St. Thomas Aquinas.
C.W. Post held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks and outshot the Spartans by an 18-1 margin.
