DeLuca's Late Goal Pushes Women's Soccer Past NYIT, 1-0

Danielle DeLuca (Islip, N.Y.) notched the game winning goal with just under seven minutes left in regulation to propel the Pioneers past neighboring East Coast Conference rival New York Institute of Technology, 1-0 Wednesday afternoon.
The Pioneers improve their overall record to 10-4-1, 4-1 in the ECC, while the NYIT Bears fall to 4-9 overall, 2-3 in conference play.
Both teams held each other scoreless for the first half, as C.W. Post registered five shots off target in the first half, while the Bears took one shot on goal, blocked by Pioneer goalkeeper

Tove Eriksson (Helsingborg, Sweden) took a penalty shot at the 48:32 mark, that was saved by NYIT keeper Kathryn Miller (Doylestown, Pa.). A break for the Pioneers would come in the 84
th minute, as DeLuca converted a feed from teammate
Prudence Rydstrom (Islip, N.Y.) into a five yard shot around Miller giving C.W. Post a 1-0 lead it would maintain for the remainder of the game.
Weiser made a total of two saves in net for C.W. Post. Miller blocked four shots and allowed one goal against for NYIT.
The Pioneers outshot the Bears by a 12-2 margin and held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
C.W. Post is back in action Saturday, October 24, as the team honors their seniors during a 3 p.m. conference matchup against Mercy College.
