ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Oct. 7, 2009)- The C.W. Post women's soccer team made a solid defensive showing as it defeated the Molloy College Lions, 2-0, Wednesday evening. The Pioneers improve to 7-3-1 overall and maintain a perfect 3-0 record in the East Coast Conference, while the Lions fall to 4-7 overall, 2-1 in conference play.

Both teams experienced a quiet first half, as only two shots were taken by the Pioneers during the first 45 minutes of play. C.W. Post exploded into the second half as sophomore Tove Eriksson (Helsingborg, Sweden) found the inside left post off a corner kick to give C.W. Post a 1-0 lead just seven minutes into play. The Pioneers struck again at the 79:42 mark, as senior Melissa Pascarella (Sayville, N.Y.) converted a pass from teammate Lindsey Nick (Hauppague, N.Y.), sending a 20 yard shot past Molloy goalkeeper Paula Sanelli (Medford, N.Y.) to give C.W. Post a two goal cushion.

C.W. Post goalkeeper Allie Weiser (Grand Island, N.Y.) did not face any shots in net from the Lions, earning her second shut out of the season. Sanelli made three saves for Molloy.

The Pioneers outshot the Lions 12-1 and held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.

C.W. Post is back in action October 11, as the Pioneers host Assumption College for a 1 p.m. matchup.
