MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 11, 2009)
– Junior shortstop Christie Softy (Floral Park, N.Y.) batted 4-for-8 with all four hits for home runs as C.W. Post took two from Southern New Hampshire University in a non-conference softball doubleheader Saturday afternoon.
 
C.W. Post is the winner of six straight contests and improves to 23-11 overall while Southern New Hampshire slips to 10-18.
 
The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the second inning before Softy hit two-run shot in the third. Softy homered again in the fifth and C.W. Post added two single runs in the sixth and seventh to cushion the lead. 
 
The Penmen got two runs in the sixth on two RBI singles.
 
Sophomore Christina Berardi (Raynham, Mass.) earned the win, allowing just six hits with four strikeouts.
 
In game two, the Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning before Southern New Hampshire tied the game in the bottom of the inning with a solo blast from Melissa Vitagliano. 
 
C.W. Post reclaimed the lead in the second when junior rightfielder Katie Fisher (Barto, Pa.) scored on a passed ball. Southern New Hampshire tied things up again in the fourth when Andrea Clausi scored on a single from Valerie Martins.
 
Softy put the Pioneers back on top in the fifth with a home run to left center in the top of the fifth. She delivered her second home run of the game with a solo shot in the seventh inning.
 
Junior Sarah Kiser (Cooper City, Fla.) picked up the win, allowing two earned runs on 10 hits while fanning eight batters.
