Softy, Berardi Earn Weekly Honors From ECC

Christie Softy (Floral Park, N.Y.) was named this week's East Coast Conference Player of the Week and sophomore
Christina Berardi (Raynham, Mass.) was named Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Softy had an enormous week at the plate as she led the team with a .448 batting average with 13 hits. Softy hit five round trippers and drove in 12 runs while scoring six and recorded 31 total bases. In a doubleheader at Southern New Hampshire, all four of Softy's hits went for home runs as she drove in seven runs on the afternoon.
Berardi was the winning pitcher for four of C.W. Post's seven wins last week with a 4-0 record. She posted a 0.50 ERA while holding batters to a .130 average and allowed just two earned runs in 28 innings pitched. Against UMass Lowell, she allowed just one hit while striking out five batters in a 6-0 win over the River Hawks.
C.W. Post (23-11, 7-1 ECC) played to a split against New Haven before sweeping Merrimack College, UMass Lowell and Southern New Hampshire University to close out the week. The Pioneers will resume action Tuesday at the University of Bridgeport for a doublheader beginning at 3 p.m.
