Directors' Cup Standings
CLEVELAND (April 2, 2009)- The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings were released Thursday afternoon, placing C.W. Post 57th out of 191 Division II schools. C.W. Post earns the honor of being the second-highest ranked East Coast Conference School, succeeded only by the University of Bridgeport, who placed 46th in the standings.
In the previous Directors' Cup poll, released on March 19th, C.W. Post was ranked 70th. The rise in rankings for the Pioneers is a result of the achievements of the C.W. Post men's basketball program and women's swimming program. The Pioneers basketball team advanced the NCAA Div. II Elite Eight, before falling to Findlay University in overtime in the quarterfinal round. The women's swim team competed at the NCAA Division II tournament, where senior Mariel Andersson (Brastad, Sweden) received All-America honors in the 100 yard and 200 yard backstroke.
