Kiser, Fisher Receive Top ECC All-Conference Honors; Six Pioneers Named All-Conference

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (April 30, 2009)
– Sophomore Sarah Kiser's (Cooper City, Fla.) dominating season in the pitching circle has earned this year's East Coast Conference Pitcher of the Year honors while freshman standout Kerry Fisher (Barto, Pa.) was named this year's Rookie of the Year, as voted upon by the conference head coaches.  Additionally six Pioneers were placed on All-Conference teams.
 
Junior shortstop Christie Softy (Floral Park, N.Y.), junior outfielder Melissa Medina (Levittown, N.Y.) along with Kiser were named First Team while Kerry Fisher was voted Second Team. Senior first baseman Ashley Marchese (Patchogue, N.Y.) and sophomore Christina Berardi (Raynham, Mass.) were voted Third Team.
 
Senior outfielder Samantha Johnston of Adelphi University was tabbed Player of the Year and Molloy head coach Susan Cassidy-Lyke was voted Coach of the Year.
 
Kiser has led the Pioneers in the circle this year with a record of 15-3. She leads the conference with a 1.09 ERA while holding her opponents to a .210 batting average. In her 129 innings, Kiser has struck out 146 batters and has thrown 16 complete games, including eight shutouts.
 
Fisher has been major contributor to the Pioneers' offense this season.  She has compiled a .358 batting average, driving in 28 runs off of her 48 hits and crossed the plate 24 times.
 
Softy is batting .358 with 53 hits that include a team-high 10 home runs with 41 RBI. Earlier this season, Softy hit seven home runs in a 10-game span, including four in a doubleheader against Southern New Hampshire.
 
Medina is batting .385 at the plate and leads the squad with 60 hits and 35 runs and a .458 on-base percentage. 
 
Marchese is enjoying her best season in a Pioneer uniform and has shown power at the plate, batting .286 with 42 hits, including 12 extra base hits. She hit her fourth home run of the season against Queens on Wednesday.
 
Berardi is sporting a 1.56 earned run average while holding runners to a .206 average and has a 14-8 overall record.
 
C.W. Post (31-16, 14-5 ECC) advanced to the second round of the ECC Championships with a 4-2 win over Queens College Wednesday afternoon and will face Adelphi University Friday morning at the New York Institute of Technology Softball Complex at 9 a.m.
