East Coast Conference Highlights Year Of Achievements
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (July 20, 2009) – The East Coast Conference enjoyed much success during the 2008-09 academic year in not only athletics but in the classroom and community as well. The conference released its yearly end of year overview of all the achievements attained by the membership institutions.
C.W. Post's achievements include the men's lacrosse team capturing its second NCAA championship title in program history. Men's basketball, softball and women's soccer and men's lacrosse all were victorious in securing ECC championship titles. Seniors Jonathan Schmidt (Centereach, N.Y.) and Greg Cerar (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) each earned ECC Player of the Year honors for men's basketball and men's lacrosse, respectively.
Academically, the Pioneers boasted two Scholar-Athletes of the year, including senior Maria Sonnerborg (Bjarred, Sweden), who was the overall female Scholar Athlete of the Year.
