BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (July 3, 2009) – C.W. Post head women's soccer coach Mark Dawson announced recently that nine student-athletes will be part of the 2009 incoming freshman class for the perennially ranked C.W. Post women's soccer team.

The freshman class joins an already strong program on the rise, as the last two season have seen the Pioneers win two ECC Tournament Championships, a regular season Conference Championship, and make back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Regional Championship Tournament.
Nicole Fierro (East Hampton, N.Y.) a goalkeeper from East Hampton High School, has good hands and is very athletic, and according to Dawson, has good potential to be an outstanding goalkeeper at the Division II level.
Breanna O'Donovan (Coram, N.Y.) is a strong, fast and athletic player hailing from Longwood High who the Pioneers will look to for depth on the forward line.
Sam Tavantz (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), who played for Sachem East, is hard working player who is recovering from ACL surgery, but Dawson and the Pioneers will look for her to add toughness and competitiveness to the program.
Janie Jannito (Hamden, Conn.), from Hamden High School, plays for an excellent club program in Connecticut and will compete for minutes in the backfield with her technically sound play.
Taylor Tefft (West Granby, Conn.) is a talented player with excellent foot skills who the Pioneers look for to add depth in the midfield and on defense.
Jessica Talericio (Little Egg Harbor, N.J.) is a defender with good technical ability who played for Pinelands Regional. Dawson looks for Talerico to continue to develop and compete for minutes.
Karin Hedlund (Brastad, Sweden) will see time at forward, and will utilize her athleticism and strong technical skills to help the Pioneers. Dawson also describes Hedlund as a very smart tactical player.
Caroline Rustlund (Ostersund, Sweden) is a strong defender or holding midfielder with good size and is very solid technically, along with being excellent at winning balls in the air.
Prudence Rydstrom (Bay Shore, N.Y.) is a hard working, tough player who will add much needed grit to the Pioneers, according to Dawson. She could see time at center midfield or back with her strong technical ability.
The Pioneers look to remain a mainstay in the national rankings this season as they play their season opener at Bloomsburg on August 27.
