Nick, Babic Lead No. 25 Women's Soccer Past East Stroudsburg University in 2-1 OT Win

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (Aug. 29, 2009)- The No. 25 C.W. Post Pioneers women's soccer team recorded their second win of the season, as they downed East Stroudburg University 1-0 in overtime. C.W. Post improves its overall record to 2-0, while the East Stroudsburg Warriors falls to 1-1 for the season.
Senior midfielder Lindsey Nick (Hauppauge, N.Y.) put the Pioneers on the board early, as she drilled in a penalty kick just 1:07 into the first half. Warriors' midfielder Kailyn Buckley (Wilmington, Del.) knocked in an unassisted goal eleven minutes later to tie the game at one a piece. Both teams were scoreless for the remainder of the first half and the entire second half to force the game into overtime play. Junior Ivana Babic (Haninge, Sweden) recorded her fourth goal of the season at the 98:11 mark to clinch the win for C.W. Post.
Freshman goalkeeper Nicole Fierro (East Hampton, N.Y.) made one save in goal for the Pioneers. Melissa Myers (Levittown, Pa.) knocked down three shots for East Stroudsburg.
The Pioneers outshot the warriors by a 13-11 margin and held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks for the day.
C.W. Post is back in action Wednesday, Sept. 2, as they take on Holy Family University in the Pioneers' season home opener. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
