Fierro Earns ECC Weekly Honors For Second Consecutive Week
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Sept. 27, 2009)- Freshman goalkeeper Nicole Fierro (East Hampton, N.Y.) earned East Coast Conference weekly accolades for the second consecutive week as she was named this week's ECC Defensive Player of the Week after helping C.W. Post capture two wins and one loss last week. The honor was her third of the season, as she was previously named conference Rookie of the Week and Defensive Player of the week.
Fierro started off the week with a 3-0 win over Pace University Monday afternoon. She tallied an assist of her own as she fed a long pass to teammate Ivana Babic (Haninge, Sweden) in the 66th minute to give C.W. Post a 2-0 lead. Fierro also made two saves in net to record her third shutout of the season. On Wednesday afternoon, she recorded five stops in net before the Pioneers ultimately fell to No. 3 Saint Rose, 0-2.
C.W. Post is back in action September 30, as it travels to UMass-Lowell for a 4 p.m. matchup.
