ORANGEBURG, N.Y. (Oct. 16, 2010) – Five different players scored for the Pioneers as the 17th-ranked women's soccer team rolled to a 5-0 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday evening in East Coast Conference women's soccer action.

The Pioneers improve to 8-1-3 overall with a 4-0-1 slate in the conference, while STAC slides to 1-10, 0-6 in conference play.

It took only 11 minutes for C.W. Post to get on the board, as freshman forward Alexa Niciforo (East Islip, N.Y.) struck, beating a STAC defender and netting the first goal of the game.

Less than ten minutes later, senior midfielder Danielle DeLuca (Islip, N.Y.) scored off a rebounded shot by senior forward Ivana Babic (Haninge, Sweden), giving C.W. Post a 2-0 lead.

Two goals in a two minute span just before halftime, by Jeanine Ambrogi (Greenlawn, N.Y.) and Sanna Pettersson (Orebro, Sweden), were both scored off rebounded shots and gave C.W. Post a 4-0 lead going into halftime.

Babic rounded out the scoring in the 54th minute as she took a pass from Ambrogi and found the back of the net for a 5-0 score.

Junior goalkeeper Allie Weiser (Grand Island, N.Y.) needed to make only one save in earning the win and combining with Nicole Fierro (East Hampton, N.Y.) for the shutout. STAC goalkeeper Jeanette Gibson made 12 stops in the net for the Spartans.

The Pioneers held an overwhelming 21-5 shot advantage and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.

C.W. Post is back in action on Monday as it hosts Caldwell College for a non-conference tilt starting at 3:30 p.m.
