Box Score
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 18, 2010) – Freshman forward
Alexa Niciforo (East Islip, N.Y.) scored two goals as the Pioneers took care of Caldwell College in quick fashion with a 4-0 dispatching of the Cougars in non-conference women's soccer action on Monday afternoon.
The Pioneers improve to 9-1-3 overall while Caldwell slips to 7-5.
C.W. Post got on the board at 21:47 as senior forward
Ivana Babic (Haninge, Sweden) led junior midfielder
Tove Eriksson (Helsingborg, Sweden), who was making a great upfield run. Babic's perfectly placed service was right where Eriksson needed it to be as she headed the ball into the upper left corner for a 1-0 lead.
Just under five minutes later, Niciforo scored the first of her two goal as she took a pass from just past midfield by sophomore
Prudence Rydstrom (Islip, N.Y.), beat two defenders, and placed a shot into the lower right corner, doubling the Pioneer lead.
It took only four minutes for Niciforo to strike again, as she took a
Danielle DeLuca (Islip, N.Y.) pass from the left side of the box, took two touches and shot into the bottom right of the net, giving C.W. Post a 3-0 lead.
Sophomore midfielder
Sam Tavantzis (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring in the 60th minute as she one-timed Niciforo's shot that rebounded off the left post into the bottom left corner.
C.W. Post outshot Caldwell by a generous margin, taking 32 to Caldwell's six. The Pioneers also took three corner kicks. In goal for the hosts, junior goalkeeper
Allie Weiser (Grand Island, N.Y.) made two saves in the first 63:48, while sophomore
Nicole Fierro (East Hampton, N.Y.) made one stop in the last 26:12.
Caldwell keeper Kristina Cabales made five stops while Lauren Hoenig made eight in the second half of play.
