WEST CHESTER, Pa. (Nov. 19, 2010) -  Freshman forwardSydney Bond scored in the 58th minute, snapping a 0-0 tie and giving the College of Saint Rose, ranked no. 1 in the nation, a 1-0 victory over the thirteenth-ranked C.W. Post women's soccer team in the East Region final of the 2010 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship.

C.W. Post ends its season at 14-2-4.

Saint Rose improves to 23-0 and advances to Sunday's NCAA quarterfinal round, where the Golden Knights will face Atlantic Region champion West Chester, who advanced past California (PA) 5-4 in penalty kicks in the day's earlier contest.

Saint Rose applied intense pressure to C.W. Post's goal during the first half, outshooting the Pioneers 12-1 and keeping junior goalkeeper Allie Weiser (Grand Island, N.Y.) on her toes. Weiser was up to the task as she made several stellar saves and directed a defensive quartet of seniors Jessie Gianatti (Southington, Conn.), Anna Svensson (Stockholm, Sweden), Qaroline Nahl (Kumla, Sweden) and Katie Weiland (Ocean City, N.J.) who withstood the Saint Rose shot onslaught.

The Pioneer held the number one ranked team in the nation scoreless for the entire first half, behind six saves from Weiser.

The second half continued with much of the same offensive pressure from the Golden Knights, but Weiser again made several great stops in the net. But Saint Rose finally connected almost thirteen minutes into the second half, as Bond took a cross from the right side from junior Christina Cuffari and deflected the cross into the lower left corner past a valiant diving attempt from Weiser.

With 20 minutes left in the second stanza, the Pioneers finally began to put some pressure on the Golden Knights, and held them to just nine shots while taking four. Junior midfielder Tove Eriksson (Helsingborg, Sweden) had a good look in the 70th minute, but her shot sailed high. The Pioneers had better opportunities and were able to move the ball more efficiently in the latter part of the game, but were just able to finish against a powerhouse Saint Rose squad, one of only two undefeated teams in all of Division II.
