Men's Cross Country Places Eighth at NCAA East Regionals
FRANKLIN PARK BOSTON, MASS. (Nov. 21, 2010) – The men's cross country team finished eighth at the NCAA East Regional Championships in Boston, Mass. The team was led by a 21st place finish by senior Vincent Giambanco (Muttontown, N.Y.). The women's team finished 19th out of the 28 female competing teams.
Giambanco finished the day with a time of 32:20 on the 10k course, a little more than two minutes behind the first runner to complete the race. Sophomore
Christian Altamura (Seaford, N.Y.) was five second behind Giambanco, finishing in 23
rd place for the Pioneers. The men's team competed against 25 other teams, in a field of 174 runners.

Karissa Chiantella (Locust Valley, N.Y.) was the first female Pioneer runner to cross the 6k finish line with a time of 25:24. Fellow freshman teammate
Jennifer McLaughlin (Seaford, N.Y.) finished 80
th on the day, only two second behind Chiantella. The female field was comprised of 181 female runners.
