Softball Ranked 18th In First NFCA Regular Season Poll
STARKVILLE, Miss. (March 3, 2010) – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its first regular season Top 25 poll and the C.W. Post softball team is ranked 18th overall.
North Georgia (13-0) received 11 first-place votes and to lead the poll, swapping places in the preseason poll with Alabama-Huntsville, who had five first-place votes.
The Pioneers, who open their season on March 8 against Clarion University and Stonehill College in Kissimmee, Fla., represent the only team in the East Coast Conference and just the second team in the region behind No. 8 Le Moyne College.
C.W. Post was voted the favorite to win the ECC title this season. Senior shortstop Christie Softy (Floral Park, N.Y.) was tabbed Preseason Player of the Year and junior Sarah Kiser (Arnold, Md.) was named Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
