Softy Feted As ECAC Player Of The Week; Also Receives NFCA Weekly Notice

CAPE COD, Mass. (April 28, 2010) Senior shortstop Christie Softy (Floral Park, N.Y.) of the No. 17 C.W. Post softball team was named this week's ECAC Player of the Week.  Softy was also recognized by the NFCA for her performance in its weekly release.

Softy erupted at the plate this week, batting .429 with ten hits, including six homers, for 17 RBI, with a 1.381 slugging percentage.  She started the week with a walk off grand slam to give C.W. Post a 10-2 win over NYIT, totaling six RBI in the game.  She also had the game-winning hit in the second game against St. Thomas Aquinas with a two-run homer and batted again in the same inning with an RBI single as part of a 14-run inning for the Pioneers.  Softy's heroics continued when she drove in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth with a solo shot to center field in a 3-2 win over Molloy. 

On the week, Softy drove in 17 runs and scored eight and broke her own school record for home runs in a single season.
