No. 18 Softball Selected To Make Its Ninth Straight NCAA Appearance
INDIANAPOLIS (May, 10, 2010) – The NCAA Division II Softball Committee released this year's 64 teams that will compete in the upcoming NCAA Championship tournament and No. 18 C.W. Post (40-14), making its ninth straight NCAA appearance since 2002.
The Pioneers were named the No. 2 seed in the East Region and will host a four-team double-elimination regional beginning May 8. They will face third-seeded Molloy College (38-18) in the opening round on Friday at the Brookhaven Athletic Complex. Top-seeded Dowling (42-15) will serve as host and will face off against fourth-seeded Dominican (37-14), who won the CACC Championship.
Each region in the tournament will be split into two four-team sub-regionals where the winners will advance to play in a best-of-three series as part of a super regional. That overall winner will advance to the eight-team World Series in St. Joseph, Mo.
New Haven (38-6) will serve as host for the second East Regional and will play fourth-seeded Georgian Court (37-17). Second-seeded Southern Connecticut (40-11)will play third-seeded Caldwell (42-14)
