BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May, 19, 2010) – Senior shortstop Christie Softy (Floral Park, N.Y.), senior outfielder Melissa Medina (Levittown, N.Y.) and junior pitcher Sarah Kiser (Arnold, Md.) were selected to Daktronics Inc. Softball East All-Region teams, as voted on by the region's sports information directors.
Softy and Medina were both named to the First Team and Kiser was a Second Team selection.
Softy, a three-time Player of the Week selection, broke C.W. Post's career records in homeruns (48), doubles (56), RBI (216), games played and games started (235). In 2010, she compiled a .367 batting average to rank sixth in the ECC and lead the conference in slugging percentage (.728), homeruns (17) and runs batted in (67). Softy knocked out at least one home run in a stretch of seven games earlier this season which set a new NCAA record.  In her four-year career as a Pioneer, Softy has been named a NFCA First Team All-American, ECAC All-Star, a three-time All-Region selection as well as a four-time All-Conference and Daktronics First Team selection.
Medina led the team in batting average (.409), hits (76) and runs scored (51). She broke the school's hits record (294) hits over a span of four years.  Medina is a four-time ECC First Team selection and NFCA All-Region selection.
Kiser compiled an overall record of 21-8 this season and broke the school's single-season strikeout record (238) previously set by Darlene Crowe in 1981. She held batters to a .208 batting average and recorded seven complete shutouts and one save. Kiser is a two-time Daktronics All-Region and All-ECC selection.
C.W. Post, under the guidance of head coach Jamie Apicella, finished the season with an overall record of 41-16 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the ninth straight season.
