– Sophomore catcher Emily Slack (East Islip, N.Y.) pulled a three-run home run over the left field fence to advance second-seeded Dowling College past top-seeded C.W. Post, 3-0, in the loser's bracket of the East Coast Conference Championship tournament Friday morning at Golden Lions Field.

Dowling improves its overall record to 39-15 and will play the winner of this afternoon's Molloy/NYIT game at 3 p.m. today. C.W. Post drops to 40-14 overall and will await seedings in the upcoming NCAA Tournament that is set to begin next Friday.

Sophomore Jessie Stavola (Montauk, N.Y.) registered her second no-hitter of the season, going the distance in the circle and fanning 16 Pioneer batters.

It was a pitcher's dual as both Dowling's Stavola and C.W. Post's Sarah Kiser (Arnold, Md.) pitched eight complete innings without letting a runner touch the plate.

Kiser let up three hits through the first eight innings and struck out two batters with one walk. In the bottom of the ninth she gave up a leadoff single to right from sophomore third baseman Jessica Roque (Warren Grove, N.J.). Freshman shortstop Stephanie Tarango (Fontana, Calif.) reached after being hit in the batter's box, allowing Slack to come to the plate with two on.

C.W. Post's only base runners in the game were when senior centerfielder Melissa Medina (Levittown, N.Y.) walked in the top of the first and freshman designated player Rogin Hardy (Kirkland, Wash.) walked to lead off the seventh. Both runners advanced to second on ground outs before Stavola got out of the jams with strikeouts to end both innings.

Slack led the Golden Lions, batting 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored.
