Whittington Joins Softball Staff
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (July 21, 2010) – C.W. Post head softball coach Jamie Apicella announced the appointment of Matt Whittington to assistant coach. Whittington, who previously served for two seasons as an assistant on the C.W. Post baseball staff, will oversee strength and conditioning and assist with the outfield and pitching staff.
"I am extremely pleased to announce that Matt Whittington will be joining me on the coaching staff," said Apicella. "His enthusiasm, passion and professionalism to the game will make him a nice addition to the staff. I know he is excited about the opportunity and is going to bring a wealth of knowledge to the program and to the current players we have on the roster."
Whittington joined C.W. Post with an impressive baseball resume, as he played for the University of Notre Dame from 2003-2005. He was part of a Fighting Irish squad that won the 2004 Big East Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA Regional Final, and was ranked second nationally at one point during the season.
Whittington graduated with a Political Science degree from Notre Dame in 2007, and is currently pursuing his master's degree in Sports Management from St. John's University.
