BROOKVILLE, N.Y.
(Sept. 18, 2010) – C.W. Post hosted a number of teams at an annual meet on the campus in Brookville. The men finished in second place on the 8k course, behind an overall seventh place finish by sophomore Christian Altamura (Seaford, N.Y.). The women finished in third place on the 5k course.
The men's team would finish with 63 points, behind the first place 23 points posted by Fordham. Altamura would complete the course in a time of 26:52.37, the first male Pioneer to cross the finish line. Sophomore Thomas Speicher (Levittown, N.Y.) would be the second Pioneer to finish, as he finished in a time of 27:09.57, good enough for 12th overall. Freshman Joseph Lasher (Seaford, N.Y.) would place a 16th overall finish, finishing at 27:15.42. Sophomores Matthew O'Keefe (East Rockaway, N.Y.) and Raymond Coyle (Woodhaven, N.Y.) would finish 19th and 21st respectively a couple of seconds behind Lasher, with times of 27:17.96 and 27:21.14. 
Other results on the men's side were finishes in third place by Molloy (90 points), fourth place by Dowling (93 points), and a fifth place showing by St. Thomas Aquinas (118 points).
On the women's side, the top two finished were only separated by one point. Fordham would finish in first place with 37 points, followed by an accumulation of 38 points by second place finisher St. John's. Following in third place were the Pioneers, tallying 122 points. Fourth and fifth place would be filled St. Thomas Aquinas (133 points) and Dowling (139).
For the Pioneers, senior Erin Lusenskas (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) and sophomore Caitlin Smith (Levittown, N.Y.) would finish back to back in 21st and 22nd, with times of 20:42.59 and 20:45.91 respectively. Freshman Karissa Chiantella (Bayville, N.Y.) would follow not too far behind, finishing in a time of 20:54.63, 26th overall. Freshman Angelica Price (Tampa, Fla.) would also qualify in the top 30, finishing 29th with a time of 21:02.72.
The Pioneers will next take to the courses in Boston, Mass., as they will take part in the Codfish Bowl on Sept. 25.
