(Sept. 24, 2010)  - The C.W. Post women's soccer team used four unanswered goals from three different players in the first half to post a 4-0 victory over New York Instituteof Technology on Saturday afternoon in East Coast Conference action.
The Pioneers improve to 4-1-2 overall and win their ECC opener to post a 1-0 record in conference play to date. NYIt moves to 4-4-0 (1-1-0 ECC).

The Pioneers controlled the game from the first whistle, posting a 19-7 shot advantage over the course of the game, including a 14-4 lead in the first half. C.W. Post wasted no time in appltying offensive pressure as Ivana Babic (Haninge, Sweden) took a pass from senior midfielder Danielle DeLuca (Islip, N.Y.) and sent a point blank shot to the right of goalkeeper Kathryn Miller just 3:52 into the contest.

The visitors struck again under three minutes later as freshman forward Alexa Niciforo (East Islip, N.Y.) controlled a rebounded shot off the foot of Anna Svensson (Stockholm, Sweden) and deflected a shot off the crossbar into the net for a 2-0 lead.

C.W. Post kept up it offensive attack and notched another goal in the 35th minute. Babic found herself one-on-one with Miller, and dribbled up to bring Miller off her line, before chipping a shot over Miller's head and into the net for her second goal of the afternoon.

The Pioneers tallied their final goal of the match in the 41st minute when senior forward Sanna Pettersson (Orebro, Sweden), headed a ball struck by Lauren Bischoff (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) into the goal.

The Pioneers took just five shots in the second half as several reserves saw extended playing time, and junior goalkeeper Allie Weiser (Grand Island, N.Y.) had a relatively quiet afternoon between the pipes as she needed to make just four saves in posting her 14th career shutout and improving to 3-1-2 on the season.

C.W. Post hosts its first home game of the year on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 3 p.m. as they take on the Southern New Hampshire Penmen in a non-conference match.
