Field Hockey Comes Up Short Against Slippery Rock, 4-1

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (Sept. 25, 2010) – Four different players scored goals for Slippery Rock in a 4-1 win over fifth-ranked C.W. Post Sunday morning at Thompson Stadium.
The win is the first of the season for Slippery Rock and improves the Rock's overall record to 1-5. Meanwhile, C.W. Post slips to 5-2.
The Rock took a 1-0 lead early in the game when Kaitlin McGinnis scored on a deflected shot in front of the cage. Slippery Rock cushioned its lead with another goal, this time from Erin Moran on a rebound off a penalty corner shot at 15:34.
The Pioneers cut the lead to one goal when senior forward Amanda Nann (Hamburg, N.J.) scored on a pass from senior forward Amy Lillis (Holtsville, N.Y.) at 20:06.
Slippery Rock continued its offensive efforts against the Pioneers and added two more goals before the close of the half from Samantha Badacewski and Katie Krouse.
C.W. Post outshot Slippery Rock, 14-8, and had a 13-5 advantage in penalty corners in the game.
Junior goalkeeper Devon Trenkle (New City, N.Y.) got the start in goal and made one save in 70 minutes of action. Lisa Belcastro made five stops in goal for Slippery Rock.
C.W. Post is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 2 when it hosts Kutztown University for a 2 p.m. start.
