BOSTON (Sept 25, 2010) – Both the men's and women's cross country teams competed in a very tough field this past Saturday, as the men finished in eighth place and the women in 13th at the Codfish Bowl in Boston, Mass.
Graduate Student runner Vincent Giambanco (Muttontown, N.Y.) paced the male side of things in the 8k course with a 17th place finish. Freshman Jennifer McLaughlin (Seaford, N.Y.) finished first for the women and 41st overall in the 5k race.
The men accumulated 205 points to finish eighth out of 25 teams. Bentley led the field with 72 points.
Giambanco was the first male Pioneer to cross the finish line at a time of 26:51, finishing less than a minute behind the leader. Sophomore Matthew O'Keefe (East Rockaway, N.Y.) was the next to cross in a time of 27:50 followed by Joe Lasher (Seaford, N.Y.) at 27:51 and Raymond Coyle (Woodhaven, N.Y.) at 27:52.
On the women's side, the women finished with 325 points. Greater Boston TC was the top finishing team with 28 points to lead the field of 23 teams.
McLaughlin was the only Pioneer runner to finish in the top 50, finishing the course in 41st place after crossing the finish line at a time of 21:24.
