Pioneer Athletics Ranked 43rd In Latest Division II Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings
CLEVELAND (Jan. 3, 2011) – The C.W. Post Pioneer athletic department is tied for 43rd place in the Final Fall Division II Learfield Sports Director's Cup Standings. The standings are compiled based on points awarded to schools for their athletic teams finishes during respective seasons. The Learfield Sports Director's Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and USA Today.
The Pioneers finished tied for 43rd place with 89 points, joined by Armstrong Atlantic State (Ga.) and Flagler (Fla.). C.W. Post earned its points on the back of 64 points earned by women's soccer, with the remaining 25 points earned by women's volleyball. Women's soccer finished ninth in the country, with volleyball finishing 33rd.
Earning first place in the Division II standings was Grand Valley State (Mich.) with an overwhelming 411 points during the fall season. The school earned first place finishes in both women's cross country and women's soccer, giving them 100 points in each. Other sports earning them points were men's cross country, men's football, and women's volleyball.
The next standings to be released will be the first winter standings, coming out on March 17, 2011.
