Dowling Holds Off Women's Soccer, 3-1
Box Score OAKDALE, N.Y. (Oct. 1, 2011) – Senior midfielder
Tove Eriksson (Helsingborg, Sweden) scored the Pioneers' only goal of the game in the 82nd minute as the C.W. Post women's soccer team fell by a 3-1 final to Dowling on Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneers record evens at 4-4 and 0-2 in the ECC.
Dowling wasted little time in getting on the board as Karen Endresen scored just 1:23 into the contest on an assist from Sabrina D'Aprile. The Golden Lions doubled the score in the 14th minute as Endresen struck again, this time on an assist from Dayna Galli.
That was all the scoring until the final minutes of the game, as Dowling took a 2-0 lead into halftime and held C.W. Post
scoreless until Eriksson's goal at 81:25 on a corner kick that went into the far side of the goal.
Galli scored an insurance goal of her own at 85:56 on a Rachel Nelson assist to round out the scoring for the Golden Lions.
Dowling held a 13-10 shot advantage, getting three saves from Melissa Guglielmo.
Allie Weiser (Grand Island, N.Y.) made one save for the Pioneers.
The Pioneers will host NYIT looking for their first conference win of the season on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
