Softball Announces 2011-12 Captains
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 16, 2011) – C.W. Post head softball coach
Jamie Apicella has announced that seniors
Kendall Bright (Manlius, N.Y.) and
Kristen Morcone (Milford, Mass.) and junior
Kaci Hopkins (New Egypt, N.J.) will serve as captains for the 2011-12 season.
Bright earned NFCA First Team All-Region and ECC First Team honors and was a Daktronics Inc. Third Team All-America selection. She in started all 57 games at second base. She drove in 58 runs on 62 hits with 36 runs scored and led the team with 29 extra-base hits, including 12 home runs.
Morcone started in 30 games last season at the catcher position and posted 19 hits, 15 RBI and nine runs scored. She hit her first collegiate home run of her career with a three-run shot at Merrimack on March 31.
Hopkins was the starting first baseman in all 57 games and batted 21 runs on 58 hits with 42 runs scored. She was a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen bases to lead the team.
