Women's Soccer Shuts Out St. Thomas Aquinas, 5-0

Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 8, 2011) – The C.W. Post women's soccer picked up a 5-0 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday afternoon, getting two goals from Lina Harle (Lund, Sweden) as the Pioneers routed the Spartans in an East Coast Conference matchup.

C.W. Post improves to 6-4 overall and evens at 2-2 in conference play, while STAC slips to 1-8-1 and 0-4 in conference.

Harle scored the first two goals of the game for the Pioneers, taking a cross from sophomore Alexa Niciforo (East Islip, N.Y.) at 4:48 followed by a similar cross from Elsa Klarin (Lund, Sweden) at 17:45.  Both shots were one-touches into the middle of the net. 

C.W. Post tacked on three more goals in the second half, as Jeanine Ambrogi (Greenlawn, N.Y.) sent a hard shot into the upper shelf for a 3-0 lead at 50:10. 

Niciforo added an unassisted goal in the 83rd minute, and Jasmine White (Colorado Springs, Colo.) scored her first collegiate goal in the 84th minute to round out the scoring.

Senior goalkeeper Allie Weiser (Grand Island, N.Y.) posted the clean sheet with four saves.  Julia Karl made six stops for the Spartans.  The Pioneers owned a 19-6 shot advantage and a 3-0 edge in corner kicks. 

Next up for the Pioneers is a road contest at Holy Family on Oct. 12, starting at 4 p.m.
