Men's and Women's Cross Country Take Part in Offseason Silfen Invitational

NEW LONDON, CONN. (April 25, 2011) – Individual C.W. Post cross country members were able to earn finishing points at the 2011 Silfen Invitational in Connecticut.  Both the men and women's teams earned seven points apiece at the event. 

On the men's side, Raymond Coyle (Woodhaven, N.Y.) and Joseph Lasher (Seaford, N.Y.) were the two responsible for earning the seven team points.  The two competed during the 5000 meter run, with Coyle being the first of the duo to finish, coming in with a time of 15:46.09.  That team landed Coyle in fourth place, earning five points.  Lasher earned two points with his seventh place finish, finishing the run in a time of 15:57.81. 

Thomas Speicher (Levittown, N.Y.) also ran in the same run, coming in 15th with a time of 16:24.54.  Matthew O'Keefe (East Rockaway, N.Y.) also took part in the day event, participating in the 1500 meter run.  The sophomore came in 32nd place with his finishing time of 4:33.93. 

Three women runners were able to earn points for the Pioneers, as all of those points came during the 5000 meter run.  Jennifer McLaughlin (Seaford, N.Y.) took home fifth place and four points for the Pioneers with her 19:39.65 finishing time.  Caitlin Smith (Levittown, N.Y.) and Erin Lusenskas (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) then finished back-to-back in seventh and eighth places.  Smith finished in 19:56.51, with Lusenskas finishing with a time of 20:18.08.

Angelica Price (Tampa, Fla.) also took part in the invitational, taking part in the 800 meter run.  The freshman took home 17th place with her 2:40.83 time.
