Fisher, Bright Power No. 25 Softball Past Caldwell, 4-0; Pioneers Advance To NCAA Super Regional

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (May 15, 2011)
– The No. 25 C.W. Post softball team advanced to the NCAA East Super Regional after setting aside Caldwell College, 4-0, in the final game of the sub regional Sunday afternoon at the Softball Complex.
 
C.W. Post, who advances to become one of 16 remaining teams in Division II for the first time since 2008, improves to 39-14 overall. Caldwell ends its season with a 32-25 record.
 
Once again, both teams held each other scoreless through four innings until the top of the fifth when junior centerfielder Kerry Fisher (Barto, Pa.) came through for the third straight game with the first RBI by driving the ball to deep right center for a two-RBI double.
 
The Pioneers added to thelr lead in the top half of the seventh courtesy of a two-run bomb to left field from junior second baseman Kendall Bright (Manlius, N.Y.). Both Bright and Fisher led the team in RBI with four each in the regional.
 
Senior Christina Berardi (Raynham, Mass.) pitched another gem as she scattered two hits over seven innings with no walks and five strikeouts.
 
Sophomore first baseman Kaci Hopkins (New Egypt, N.J.) led the Pioneers with two hits and two runs scored in the game.
 
Kourtney Wilson took the loss for the Cougars after giving up four runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out six batters.
