Women's Soccer Overwhelms Pittsburgh-Johnstown, 7-0

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 11, 2011) – Led by
Alexa Niciforo's (East Islip, N.Y.) two goals, six different Pioneers scored en route to a 7-0 routing of the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown on Saturday afternoon.
C.W. Post improves to 2-1 while UPJ slides to 0-4.
Niciforo wasted little time in getting the Pioneers on the board, as 2:12 into the contest she gathered in a loose ball of a defensive deflection at the top of the box, and sent a 18-yard shot into the upper left corner.
Eight minutes later,
Lina Harle (Lund, Sweden) took a cross from Niciforo on the riht side of the box, and her header from eight-yards out went into the left side of the goal to double the host advantage.
Rebecca Swedberg (Stockholm, Sweden) took advantage of a corner kick by
Tove Eriksson (Helsingborg, Sweden), as the deflection off the kick came directly to her feet for an easy shot into the net.
The Pioneers capped the first half scoring with two unassisted goals, as
Elsa Klarin (Lund, Sweden) and Niciforo scored at 40:29 and 43:04 respectively, giving C.W. Post a 5-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Pioneers came out of the second half with the same momentum they ended with, as
Lauren Bischoff (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) sent a 15-ayard shot that careened off the left goal post and into the net just 46 seconds into the second half.
Brooke Palmer (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) finished the scoring with an unassisted 8-yard score at 77:15 to give the Pioneers a 7-0 edge.
Allie Weiser (Grand Island, N.Y.) needed to make only one save to post the shutout, while UPJ keeper Victoria Der Vanik made five stops before giving way to Timi Shick, who made one save.
The Pioneers had an 18-1 shot advantage and a 9-0 corner advantage over the Lady Cats.
C.W. Post travels to Caldwell on Thursday, Sept. 15 to take on the Cougars and 4 p.m.
