Men's Cross Country Comes in Second and Women in Fourth in Home C.W. Post Invite

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 17, 2011)
– The C.W. Post cross country program hosted its annual C.W. Post Invite on Saturday, having 14 women's teams and 12 men's teams meet on the Brookville campus course.  For the home teams themselves, the Pioneers men took second place and the women took fourth among the competitors. 

The men totaled 77 points, falling in second behind the winning team Fordham who scored 32 points to earn the victory.  Christian Altamura (Seaford, N.Y.) ran a 26:51.91 time to put him into eight place to be the first Pioneer past the finish line.  Fellow junior, Raymond Coyle (Woodhaven, N.Y.), finished in 10th place (27:09.08), becoming the second Pioneer to cross the finish line.

Other Pioneers finished in places 15th, 20th, 24th, and 67th to round out the scoring and placing for the entire team. 
On the women's side, Jennifer McLaughlin (Seaford, N.Y.) led the Pioneers to an overall fourth place finish with her 13 point finish (19:58.47).  Alexa Montegari (Wanaque, N.J.) also had a solid showing with her 20:37.78, giving her 16 points.

The women's team rounded out the scoring with girls placing with point totals of 18, 29, 32, 33, and 56. 

The women overall tallied 108 points, with like the men's results, Fordham coming in first place with a total of 21 points.
