No. 5 Bridgeport Shuts Down Women's Soccer, 2-0

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Sept. 24, 2011) – The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team remained undefeated, handing C.W. Post a 2-0 defeat on Saturday evening in the East Coast Conference opener for the Pioneers.
C.W. Post evens out at 3-3 on the season and 0-1 in conference play, while Bridgeport improves to 7-0 and 2-0 in ECC action.
A scoreless first half set the stage for UB's two second half tallies. In the 63rd minute, Julia Colley sent a pass from the right side of the field to Katie Stanley, who shot into the top of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Almost exactly ten minutes later, in the 73
rd minute, Stephanie D'Andrea sent a long pass to Asia Pulse, who beat the Pioneer defense and scored for the second goal of the game.
The Purple Knights held a 12-8 shot advantage, while C.W. Post owned a 3-2 edge in corner kicks. C.W. Post senior goalkeeper
Allie Weiser (Grand Island, N.Y.) made two saves in the loss, while UB goalie Julia Hansson stopped five shots.
The Pioneers will travel to Wilmington (Del.) for a non-conference matchup against the Wildcats on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
