Men's Cross Country Slotted Sixth in the Latest Regional Rankiings
NEW ORLEANS, LA. (Sept. 28, 2011) – The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its second week of regional rankings on Sept. 27, seeing the C.W. Post men's team move up from the seventh spot to the sixth spot. This ranking is the highest in Coach
Rob Morris's career as a Pioneer athlete and coach.
The Pioneer men's team will be back in competition this weekend as the team travels to the Lehman Invitational. Thus far this season, C.W. Post has competed in a tri-meet at Stony Brook and then hosted the C.W. Post Invitational a few weekends back. The men managed a second place finish on the home course, as
Christian Altamura (Seaford, N.Y. and
Raymond Coyle (Woodhaven, N.Y.) each finished in the top 10 to lead the Pioneers.
Northeast-10 Conference teams compiled the top five of the Regional Rankings, as UMass Lowell held the top spot for the second straight week. Second thru fifth place also remained unchanged as Southern Connecticut, Stonehill, Bentley, and Adelphi represent the conference. Fellow ECC program, Molloy, joined C.W. Post in the rankings for the first time this year in the seventh spot. Two more NE-10 schools, Merrimack and Saint Rose, made up for the eighth and ninth slots with Felician of the CACC rounding out the top 10.
