Women's Soccer Tops Wilmington, 4-1

WILMINGTON, Del. (Sept. 29, 2011) – Freshman forward
Morgan Kitton (Bellmore, N.Y.) led the C.W. Post women's soccer team with two scores, and
Alexa Niciforo (East Islip, N.Y.) and
Tove Eriksson (Helsingborg, Sweden) each added goals as the Pioneers rolled to a 4-1 victory over Wilmington University on Thursday afternoon.
C.W. Post improves to 4-3 while the Wildcats slip to 2-7.
All the scoring was done in the second half, as the teams played a scoreless first half. Niciforo opened the scoring off an assist from
Elsa Klarin (Lund, Sweden) at 57:05.
Eriksson doubled the lead in the 63rd minute on a laser shot from outside the box. Vikki Zipf got Wilmington on the board at 67:30 when she put a direct kick into the back of the net.
Kitton scored the last two goals of the game in just a two minute spat, as she scored on a breakaway in the 87th minute, then scored on a corner kick off the foot of Eriksson in the 89th minute.
Senior goalkeeper
Allie Weiser (Grand Island, N.Y.) made eight saves for C.W. Post, who held a 19-16 shot advantage. Brooke Eveler made 11 stops for the Wildcats.
The Pioneers will next play at Dowling on Saturday evening at 5 p.m.
