Box Score OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Oct. 13, 2012) – The No. 7 LIU Post women's soccer team, powered by the goal scoring of freshman Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway) and junior Alexa Niciforo (East Islip, N.Y.), earned a 3-1 victory over the New York Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon.

The Pioneers improve to 12-1-1 overall and remain undefeated in East Coast Conference action with a 6-0 record.  The Bears bump to 5-8 overall and 2-4 in conference play.

Niciforo put the Pioneers up early in the contest as she took a feed up the middle from sophomore Solveig Bjordal (Harfsfjord, Norway) and beat the NYIT keeper to the near side for a 1-0 lead.

Vistnes doubled the lead just three minutes later as she beat the NYIT keeper one-on-one after a tipped ball from freshman Hanna Westerling (Alvadalen, Sweden).

That would be all the scoring for the next 60 minutes, until Natasha Arana scored in the 71st minute on an assist from Kathryn Boehmer to cut the Pioneer lead to 2-1.

But the LIU Post offense quickly rebounded as pumped in an insurance goal as Vistnes careened a shot off the far left post into the back of the net.

Senior Nicole Fierro (East Hampton, N.Y.) made a career-high 12 saves as she faced 19 total shots from the Bears to earn the victory.  Brianna Bollettieri also stopped 12 stops in the loss for NYIT.

The Pioneers had a 26-19 edge in shots, and took two corners to NYIT's three.

Up next for the Pioneers is a conference tilt at Molloy on Wednesday, starting at 5 p.m.
