Niciforo Nabs ECC Co-Player of the Week Accolades

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Oct. 15, 2012) - The East Coast Conference release its weekly women's soccer awards, with LIU Post junior forward Alexa Niciforo (East Islip, N.Y.) making her first appearance of the season on the list as she was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Week.  

Niciforo scored one goal and added one assist to lead the Pioneers to a 2-0 week. She assisted on the game winner in a 2-1 victory over Wilmington and then got the Pioneers on the board, scoring the first goal in a 3-1 win over NYIT.

No. 7 LIU Post women's soccer posted two wins this week, defeating Wilmington 2-1 in non-conference action then handing NYIT a 3-1 defeat in ECC play on Saturday. Four Pioneers found the back of the net this week, led by two goals from Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway) and a goal and an assist from Niciforo. With a 12-1-1 record and a 7-0 slate in conference play, the Pioneers sit atop both the ECC and NSCAA East Region rankings, and the team has outscored opponents 40-14. LIU Post will travel to Molloy on Wednesday evening for an ECC matchup again the Lions starting at 5 p.m.
