Field Hockey Teams Up With NFCR To "Stick It To Cancer"
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 5, 2012) – The LIU Post field hockey team has joined hands with the National Foundation for Cancer Research to participate in the 3rd annual “Stick it to Cancer” campaign, in which field hockey teams across the country are invited to participate by committing to donate proceeds from at least one game to NFCR.
LIU Post will be donating proceeds from its game versus East Stroudsburg University Oct. 6, 2012 to NFCR.
“We have many of the girls on our team who have been personally affected—those who have beaten the disease and those who have lost the battle—but we are a team that is passionate about helping to find a cure and giving back what we can to the cause,” said Ashley Daniels, assistant coach.
To raise funds, the team will be collecting general donations at the event, holding a raffle, and donating proceeds from concessions and “Stick it to Cancer” t-shirt sales. There is no admission cost.
Those who have battled cancer will be recognized at the event, and the players will be wearing “Stick it to Cancer” T-shirts in support of the cause.
The “Stick it to Cancer” game begins at 3:00 p.m. and will take place on LIU Post's campus.
