No. 8 Field Hockey Rallies In Second Half To Defeat No. 10 East Stroudsburg, 3-2

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Oct. 6, 2012) – The No. 8 LIU Post Pioneers scored twice in the second half to overcome an early deficit and defeat No. 10 East Stroudsburg University, 3-2, in a PSAC East field hockey clash Saturday afternoon.
LIU Post improves to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the PSAC East. East Stroudsburg slips to 4-9 and 0-6 in conference action.
The Pioneers scored the first goal of the game in the fifth minute when senior midfielder
Ashley Oracewski (Bay Shore, N.Y.) scored from the left side into the lower left corner.
The Warriors answered with a goal in the 13th minute with an unassisted goal from Gabrielle Seibert. They added the go-ahead goal in the 33rd minute when Mallory Pope scored from the top of the 16 off a corner taken by Alyson Becker.
In the second half, LIU Post tied the game when
sophomore Paige Albano (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) scored off a rebound shot into the lower left corner in the 43rd minute. The Pioneers regained the lead for good when junior midfielder
Carlee Dragon (Bridgewater, N.J.) took a pass from sophomore
Lyn-Marie Wilson (St. Michael's, Barbados) and shot the ball 10 yards into the cage.
The Pioneers finished the game outshooting the Warriors, 14-10, and had a 14-12 advantage in penalty corners.

Becca May (Swedesboro, N.J.) made five saves in goal to preserve the win.
LIU Post returns to action on Oct. 9 when it hosts West Chester University at 4 p.m.
