WALTHAM, MASS. (Dec. 16, 2012) – The No. 2 Bentley University Falcons proved too much for the LIU Post women's basketball team Sunday afternoon, as the Falcons won their ninth straight game by a score of 82-61 in the Dana Center.

LIU Post drops to 5-2 on the season (1-1 ECC), while Bentley improves to 9-0 overall.

Pioneers' junior Alexis Peters (Dorchester, Mass.) led all players in the game with 20 points, while teammates Nicolette Marciniak (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Kenyatta Sears (Hampton, Va.) added 14 points apiece. Marciniak also grabbed a team-high nine boards.

Four Falcons reached double-digit point totals with Lauren Battista and Courtney Finn leading the way with 16 points each.

The Pioneers started the first half, matching Bentley point-for-point as the scoreboard showed 14-all after eight minutes of play. The Falcons then turned it up a notch, finishing out the half on a 27-14 run and leading the Pioneers 41-27 at halftime.

Bentley opened up the second half in similar fashion, scoring 13 unanswered points before a Sears sunk a jump at the 16 minute mark to open up the Pioneers' scoring in the second half. Unable to slow down the Falcons' offense, the Pioneers lost the game 82-61.

The Pioneers finished the game shooting .356 (26-73) from field goal range including .208 (5-24) from beyond the arc and 4-4 from the charity stripe. The Falcons shot .545 (30-55) from field goal range, .286 (4-14) from downtown, and .783 (18-23) from the free-throw line.

The Pioneers return to action Dec. 29-30 as they host their second annual Winter Classic in the Pratt Recreation Center. LIU Post faces Bloomfield College at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Southern New Hampshire University Sunday at 3 p.m.
