Busch Named ECC Assistant Commissioner
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (December 5, 2012) - East Coast Conference Commissioner, Dr. Robert Dranoff, announced on Wednesday afternoon that Leslie Busch has been named the conference's Assistant Commissioner, effective December 10.
Busch will handle Senior Woman Administrator duties for the conference and will also focus on compliance, business operations, special student programming, and assist with championship administration.
“We are very pleased to welcome Leslie Busch to our conference staff,” said Dranoff. “She brings to this position a great combination of knowledge and experience in college athletics, program management, marketing and student-athlete development.”
Dranoff continued, “Leslie already has worked alongside many of the administrators and coaches from our ECC member schools and we believe she will be able to make a great contribution to the continued development of the conference and our student-athletes.”
Busch joins the conference after spending six years at Queens College, having served as Assistant Athletics Director from 2007-12. During her tenure she established and headed the department's External Relations office, where she oversaw sports information, communications, marketing and promotions, alumni relations and the Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner.
Previously, she was responsible for departmental student welfare and marketing efforts. In this position, she led the implementation of an academic support program that included mandatory study hall sessions, tutoring, and peer mentoring. In addition, she supervised community engagement and student enrichment programs, directed the Knights' rebranding effort, and coordinated the Annual Queens College Golf & Tennis Classic.
During her time at Queens, she also held positions as Assistant Softball Coach and Assistant Director of the college's summer camp program.
Busch graduated from the University at Albany with a bachelor's degree in English. While there, she helped the Great Danes' softball team to a pair of America East conference championships, both resulting in automatic bids to the NCAA Division I Softball Championships. From her centerfield position, she served as a captain in both seasons.
Busch, who received her master's degree in Sports Management from Columbia University, currently resides in Queens, N.Y.
