NEW ORLEANS, LA. (Feb. 14, 2012) – The C.W. Post men's cross country team was recently announced as an All-Academic team by USTFCCCA as a NCAA Division II team, announced this past Monday.

The Pioneers, coming off a third straight ECC championship this past fall, finished with a 3.28 GPA during competition season.  This team recognition comes off an announcement last week that saw Christian Altamura (Seaford, N.Y.), Raymond Coyle (Woodhaven, N.Y.), and Richard Schmitz (Farmingdale, N.Y.) were named All-Academic Honorees.

To qualify as an All-Academic team, a cross country squad must achieve a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have at least five runners finish at the NCAA regional championship.  The Pioneers had four players inside the top 50 at the regional, highlighted by Altamura's 24th place finish back in November in Boston, Mass.
