Hagenah, Dzierzynski Earn Top ECC Yearly Honors; Seven Pioneers Named All-Conference

) – Sophomore shortstop Nicole Hagenah (Commack, N.Y.) was named the East Coast Conference Player of the Year and freshman catcher Alyson Dzierzynski (Deer Park, N.Y.) was voted Rookie of the Year, the conference announced on Thursday.
 
In all, seven Pioneers were voted All-Conference by the league's head coaches to tie with Dowling College for the most representatives. 
 
After capturing the conference's Rookie of the Year award in 2011, Hagenah put together another tremendous season this year. A force in the middle of the Pioneers' lineup, she ranks in the top-five in the conference in almost every offensive category including leading the way in RBI (48), runs (52), total bases (107), and walks (30). She also hit .381 and blasted 11 home runs, good for second in the conference. Hagenah was stellar in the field as well, posting a 1.000 fielding percentage in 28 conference games.
 
A three-time Rookie of the Week selection, Dzierzynski was a major contributor in the Pioneers potent lineup. She currently boasts a .365 batting average to go along with nine homeruns and 43 RBI. Those numbers, as well as her hits (53), runs (27), total bases (88), and slugging percentage (.595) totals, all rank in the top-ten in the ECC. Dzierzynski also excelled behind the plate, tossing out eight of 14 attempted base stealers.
 
Hagenah, along with senior outfielder Kerry Fisher (Barto, Pa.), sophomore pitcher/designated player Liz Weber (Brightwaters, N.Y.) and freshman outfielder Catherine Havens (Eastport, N.Y.) were named First Team All-Conference.  Senior outfielder Krysta Palazzo (Sea Cliff, N.Y.), sophomore third baseman Alexis Gonzalez (Hauppauge, N.Y.) and freshman catcher Alyson Dzierzynski (Deer Park, N.Y.) were recognized to the Second Team.
 
Molloy's Kelley Jansen was voted Pitcher of the Year and head coach Susan Cassidy-Lyke was tabbed Coach of the Year for the fourth straight season.
