Softball Advances In ECC Championships With 6-1 Win Over Queens

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Apri 27, 2012) - C.W. Post defeated Queens College, 6-1, to advance in the East Coast Conference Championships Friday afternoon at Dean Skelos Sports Complex. The Pioneers will play Dowling College this afternoon at 4 p.m.
C.W. Post improves to 37-19 overall while Queens falls to 20-18.
The Knights took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single from designated player Sara Schendel.
The Pioneers answered with two runs in the third,, beginning with a fielder's choice that scored junior first baseman
Kaci Hopkins (New Egypt, N.J.) from third. The second run was scored on a throwing error by the shortstop on a fielder's choice that scored senior right fielder

Salcido earned her 15th win of the season after pitching the final four innings and allowed just two hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Sophomore
Liz Weber (Brightwaters, N.Y.) pitched the first three innings and allowed one run on six hits with three strikeouts.
Isabelle Yaroch was charged with the loss after allowing four earned runs on nine hits and three walks with four strikeouts.
Bright batted 2-for-4 with two RBI while Fisher was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Dzierzynski batted 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
