ECAC Recognizes Four Pioneers To Softball All-Star Team; Dzierzynski Tabbed Rookie Of The Year
CAPE COD, Mass. (June 1, 2012) – The Eastern College Athletic Conference recognized four LIU Post Pioneers to its 2012 All-Star Softball squad. Freshman catcher
Alyson Dzierzynski (Deer Park, N.Y.) was named the Rookie of the Year while senior outfielder
Kerry Fisher (Barto, Pa.), sophomore shortstop
Nicole Hagenah (Commack, N.Y.) and freshman
Catherine Havens (Eastport, N.Y.) were named All-Stars.
Dzierzynski was selected for the NFCA All-East Region Second Team. The East Coast Conference Rookie of the Year had a solid freshman campaign behind the plate. She recorded 56 hits as part of a .346 batting average, including nine home runs and 10 doubles, and drove in 45 runs for the Pioneers. She helped LIU Post to a 37-22 ledger and 11th straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
