Box Score LOWELL, Mass. (Sept. 2, 2012) - The LIU Post women's soccer team battled No. 17 University of Massachusetts-Lowell to a 2-2 draw on Sunday  afternoon at the River Hawk Soccer Classic.

Both the Pioneers and the Riverhawks now post identical records of 1-0-1 on the season.

Each team played a scoreless first half, with the Pioneers holding a 5-3 edge in shots.

However, less than five minutes into the start of the second half, at 49:24, UML's Julia Donigian scored her first of the season as Jenna Costa played the ball to the right side of the box and Donigian shot the ball just inside the post for a 1-0 River Hawk lead.

But the Pioneer responded just under one minute later as freshman forward Susanne Vistnes (Randaberg, Norway) sent a cross into the box that senior midfielder Jeanine Ambrogi (Greenlawn, N.Y.) headed in for the tying goal.

LIU Post pulled ahead just two minutes later as Ambrogi had a hand in the second goal, sending in a hard shot that rebounded right to the foot of senior midfielder Prudence Rydstrom (Islip, N.Y.). who converted for the go-ahead goal.

But the River Hawks tied the game ten minutes later as Costa scored on a cross from Keanna Santos.

The score remained knotted at two through both OT periods, with a relatively even 4-3 shot differential in favor of the Pioneers.

Senior goalkeeper Nicole Fierro (East Hampton, N.Y.) made eight stops in goal, identical to UML's Jane Hatzikonstantis.

LIU Post will take on Georgian Court in the home opener for the Pioneers on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 4 p.m.
