Margiotta Scores Four To Lead No. 7 Field Hockey to 7-3 Win Over Kutztown

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 21, 2012) – Freshman forward
Kelianna Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.) scored a season-high four goals to lead No. 7 LIU Post to a 7-3 victory over Kutztown University Friday afternoon in a PSAC East field hockey clash on Hickox Field.
LIU Post improves to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play while Kutztown slips to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in the PSAC East.
The Golden Bears scored the first goal of the game in the eighth minute when Anna Behm chipped a shot into the lower right corner on a right cross from Emily Labowitz.
LIU Post tied the game when Margiotta scored her first goal on a tip in shot out front in the 15th minute of play.
Kutztown took the lead once more in the first, this time with Behm assisting on a goal from Labowitz that was shot out front past a charging

The Pioneers answered back with a 5-0 run that carried into the second half and included a pair of goals from junior forward
Carlee Dragon (Bridgewater, N.J.) and three from Margiotta to give the hosts a 6-2 lead.
The Golden Bears scored one more in the 56th minute when Erin Reynolds tipped in a shot out front.
Sophomore forward
Karina Fleming (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) scored the game's final goal when she gathered the ball out of a scramble and shot it out front and into the cage.
Kutztown goalkeeper Karly Waltman made 12 saves in goal for Kutztown.
The Pioneers outshot the Golden Bears, 25-4, and held a 16-7 advantage on penalty corners.
